Royal Life Saving Society - Australia is delighted to welcome three new Directors to its Board, Dr Erica Davison, Alexandra Ash and Professor Richard Franklin.
Announcing the appointments, Royal Life Saving President Dr Mitch Hartmann said they each bring a deep commitment to the organisation’s mission.
“They add to the diversity of perspectives and skills critical to strengthening our strategic governance. I look forward to working with them over the coming years,” Dr Hartman said.
Over the past three months, the Board undertook a recruitment and selection process for two independent director positions. Ms Ash and Professor Franklin were the successful candidates.
Alexandra Ash has strong skills in the areas of community engagement, strategy and business management, commercial business, and government advocacy.
“I feel privileged to be appointed as an Independent Director,” Ms Ash said.
“Safety around water and enjoying our beautiful country has been part of my life since I was a child. I have very fond memories at our local lifesaving and yacht clubs with my father and family.
“After seeing the impact COVID-19 has had on the aquatic and recreation industry, I am committed to consulting with and advocating for our industry, one that is so fundamental to safety, fun, and family memories.”
Professor Richard Franklin is a Professor in Public Health, Director for the World Safety Organization Collaborating Centre - Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion at James Cook University, Townsville Queensland.
“I am very excited to join the Royal Life Saving Board and look forward to contributing to corporate governance and leadership,” Professor Franklin said.
“I bring a deep and long-term commitment to drowning prevention and water safety, specifically as it relates to children, regional and farming communities. While we talk a lot the prevention of drowning, I feel equally strongly about the safe use of all aquatic locations across Australia.”
Dr Erica Davison was appointed to the Board by Royal Life Saving Western Australia. Dr Davison is a health leader with expertise spanning government, private and not-for-profit sectors.
“I am very pleased to join the important work of Royal Life Saving Society - Australia, given our leadership in drowning prevention, increased swimming, water safety and lifesaving,” Dr Davidson said.
“I am extremely proud of the history of Royal Life Saving Society – Australia and the impact it has made to the lives of people in our community. I look forward to adding value to the board and organisational governance, as well as highlighting the research, programs, community campaigns and advocacy that is the cornerstone of the society and member organisations.”
