Abstract

This drowning prevention Strategy for South East Queensland is the result of a collaborative process involving a range of key community, industry and government stakeholders. Sadly, 366 people have drowned in the region in the last 10 years, each representing the loss of a father, mother, sister brother, child or grandparent with devastating effects on families, friends, health and emergency services workers, and entire communities. This strategy intends to provide the region with guidance for reducing drowning, coordinating collecting action and reinforcing the importance of safe enjoyment of the water.
