National Fatal Drowning Database
Formed in 2002, the Royal Life Saving National Fatal Drowning Database is a valuable resource for drowning prevention research and advocacy efforts in Australia.

The Royal Life Saving National Fatal Drowning Database features detailed variables on the circumstances of all unintentional drowning deaths that have occurred in Australian waterways since 1 July 2002. It is used to provide advice to Coroners, Federal, State and Local Governments, by institutions and the Australian Water Safety Council for the formulation of Australian Water Safety Strategies.

The database is made possible by ethical access to the National Coronial Information System (NCIS) and State and Territory Coronial Offices, the Queensland Family and Child Commission and Surf Life Saving Australia.

You can view the Royal Life Saving National Fatal Drowning Database Dashboard and Submit a request for specific types of data by accessing the Royal Life Saving Data Portal below.
