Purpose

To ensure a quality approach is taken to the management of the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations, RLSSA has developed a National Aquatic Industry Safety Framework.

Structure

The National Aquatic Industry Safety Framework consists of four main sections:

Section 1: National Aquatic Industry Safety Strategy
This details the broad objectives, targets, outcomes, framework, plan and performance indicators for the Aquatic Industry to achieve the goals as established through the Australian Water Safety Strategy 2016-2020.

Section 2: National Aquatic Industry Safety Policy
This outlines the structure, principles of operation and the procedures for the management of the National Aquatic Industry Safety Committee and the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations (this document).

Section 3:National Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations
This contains a range of industry best practice Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations inclusive of documents (templates / forms) that relate to specific Guidelines.

Section 4: National Aquatic Industry Safety Hub
This contains a range of supporting material which may be used to guide the implementation of the National Aquatic Industry Safety Framework

The National Aquatic Industry Safety Framework is based on the requirements of AS/NZS ISO 9001: 2016 Quality Management Systems – requirements and the AS/NZS ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management – Principles and Guidelines.

National Aquatic Industry Safety Policy

This document includes a description of the processes undertaken by RLSSA for the operation of the National Aquatic Industry Safety Framework and includes but is not limited to a description of the:

  • The commitment by RLSSA
  • How objectives are determined and how action is planned to meet these objectives
  • The Legal, Governance and Management framework
  • Document and Records Management
  • Audit, Review and Continual Improvement
  • Communication and Consultation
  • The procedures which RLSSA achieve these policies
