Supervision Planning
Effective Lifeguard supervision is a critical step in ensuring patron safety at an aquatic facility. It is the supervision plan that makes this happen. This online module is highly interactive and takes the learner through the key elements that go into creating a contextualised and practical supervision plan.
Lifeguard Advanced Supervision Skills
Effective supervision by Lifeguards is a critical preventative step in ensuring patron safety. Unfortunately, with limited time for training and ongoing professional development it is often overlooked in favour of focusing on rescue and emergency response skills. This module takes a close at the challenges around visual cognition, memory, attention and physiology and how this can impact a Lifeguard’s supervision and scanning. It also provides strategies and techniques to overcome these common challenges.
Teacher of Lifesaving
Learn all about how you can most effectively and easily embed the teaching of lifesaving skills into your swimming lessons and programs. We know that critical skills around personal survival, lifesaving, rescue and resuscitation can sometimes be overlooked in the pursuit of ‘teaching someone to swim’ but they are in fact a core capability and every swimming and water safety teacher should be confident and capable in teaching these skills.
Swim Teaching for Participants on the Autism Spectrum
This module, developed in partnership with Autism Spectrum Australia, is designed for swim teachers that are starting out in this area of specialised teaching, or those with experience looking to test and update their knowledge and skills. The combination of knowledge building and practical tips and strategies will give teachers the ability to move forward with confidence and clarity and deliver highly effective and enjoyable lessons in this rewarding but sometimes challenging area.
Child Safety
Royal Life Saving has developed 2 modules here. The first is aimed at frontline staff, e.g. swim teachers and lifegaurds, the second builds on this content and is designed for management. The chief purpose of both modules is to assist the aquatic industry, and its workforce, to develop a clear understanding of the expectations, legal requirements and best practices related to ensuring children are safe from harm and abuse and that aquatic facilities/organisations create a positive, child-friendly culture and environment.
Communication Skills
Effective communication is the lifeblood of any organisation.
How all levels of staff communicate with each other and how they communicate with your patrons and external stakeholders shapes the daily operations and overall success of any business.
Cultural Competence
Make sure your aquatic facility or pool is welcoming for all people, including those from diverse cultures and backgrounds with Royal Life Saving's cultural competence training.
Conflict Management
Using real-life scenarios, specially designed for the aquatic industry, learn how to manage conflicts with customers and colleagues effectively and positively.
Customer Service
Professional, friendly, genuine. Find out how great customer service can grow your brand and business. Specially designed for the aquatic, sport and community recreation industries.
Fatigue Management
This module looks at understanding what fatigue is and delves into the broad science underpinning our knowledge of fatigue at a body-systems level. It looks at the causes, symptoms and effects of fatigue in the context of Lifeguarding in particular. It then moves on to look at how to manage fatigue in a work-related and non-work related context and provides specific advice for organisations and individuals on the countermeasures that can be taken.
